A one or two-component reaction (thermosetting ) adhesive based on one or more radical polymerizable compounds and free from hydroxyethyl(methyl) acrylate and hydroxypropyl(meth)acrylate is new. A one or two-component reaction (thermosetting ) adhesive based on one or more radical polymerizable compounds of (A), of formula (I): and/or (B), and/or (C), and/or of formula (II): R1 = H or Me, R2 = linear or branched 2-6C alkyl or 4-21C alkylene oxide, n = 1,2, or 3, (B) R3, when x is 1 = 6-18C aryl, straight chain or branched 1-18C alkyl, 3-12 cycloalkyl,(C) R3 when n is 1 = compounds of formula (III): m = 0-10; and R4 = (a) polycaprolactone diol, (b) polytetrahydrofurfuryldiol, (c) a diol derived from a polyesterdiol, where the ratio of C is greater than 2.6 (sic), the C:H ratio is less than 10, and the molecular weight of C is 1000-20000; R3 = when n is 3 = compounds of formula (IV); R5 = a triol residue of a 3-6C hydrocarbon containing linear or branched trihydric alcohol; p = 1-10; Q and Q' = 6-18C hydrocarbon containing aromatic, aliphatic or cycloaliphatic groups, derived from diisocyanates or diisocyanate mixtures, where the composition contains (wt.%): one or more compounds A (10-80), one or more compounds B(100-20), or a mixture of one or more compounds A and C (100-20), or one or more compounds A (98-20), one or more compounds C (2-80) relative to the total weight of A+B+C. The adhesive is free from hydroxyethyl(methyl) acrylate and hydroxypropyl(meth)acrylate. Independent claims are included for: (1) a composition containing (wt.%): one more compounds B (10-70), and one or more compounds A and/or C (90-30), relative to the total weight of A+B+C; (2) A method for preparation of the composition with homogenization of the polymerizable compound or compounds, the activator system, and if necessary other additives; and (3) an adhesive composition including, apart from activators and if required conventional additives, one or more compounds as defined above.
