Multiple-echo magnetic resonance imaging process has a first high frequency excitation pulse followed by a number of high frequency refocusing pulses. Between the refocusing pulses are two or more phase coding gradient pulses (106, 108). Between the excitation pulse and the first refocusing pulse are at least two compensation phase coding gradient pulses (116, 118).
