The opposed piston vegetable oil engine has its exhaust gas turbine mechanically connected to the crank drive, whereby the engine can be started also by the exhaust gas turbine. The higher exhaust gas heat of the duotherm and isochore operating opposed piston engine is collected directly on the engine casing (5) and is fed to the gearwheel-connected turbine. The collector is placed around the turbine wheel (1) and has a connection for compressed air, an injection nozzle (10) and a spark plug (11).
