Floor element comprises a top layer (2) and a bottom layer (6) made from wood and having a number of parallel strips (8). A groove (20) or a tongue (22) is provided on the short sides (16, 18) and long sides (12, 14) of the bottom layer. The strips and/or the mean fiber direction of the strips are positioned at an angle at least to the short sides.
