The device has a burner (2) for feeding heat to a thermoelectric converter (3), e.g. a Stirling engine, and a multi-shell housing (4) containing a combustion chamber (12) enclosing the converter head (5) and an outflow chamber (16) between two shells (13,14) via which combustion exhaust gases formed in the combustion chamber can escape from the cell. An inlet opening (17) into the outflow chamber is arranged approximately centrally with respect to the converter head, while at least one outflow opening (18) is arranged off-center.
