Method for adjusting the axial play (S) between the housing (36) and blade (22) of a radial flow compressor (12) comprises rotating against each other a component or a component interacting with this component and a further component of the compressor. Each rib (48) of a rib support (46) connected to one component is brought onto a step (50) of a step ring (42) connected to another component and arranged concentrically to the rib support. The axial distance between the components is changed on rotating from step to step because of the different axial heights (h) of the steps and their chosen arrangement in the form of cyclic steps (52) on the step ring. Independent claims are also included for a device for adjusting the axial play, and for a compressor comprising this device.
