Controlling the quantity of fuel delivered during a starting process of an internal combustion engine, in which the quantity of fuel delivered is increased by a starting quantity increasing factor (F), comprises initially setting the factor (F) to a starting factor (F1) after reaching a first threshold value (Sn1) for an engine revolution (n) to a first time point (t1), determining a second time point (t2) after reaching the threshold value, raising the starting factor when the engine revolution lies below the a second threshold value (Sn2) and/or the revolution is changed after raising to the first time point below a threshold value, and canceling the starting quantity increasing factor after successfully starting the engine.
