The inner trim part (2) of the vehicle has a support layer (3) with cover layer (4) facing the inside of the vehicle. The airbag (5) when not activated but folded is mounted in an interspace between the support and cover layers and when inflated passes out through an outlet opening in the cover layer into the inside of the vehicle. The support layer has through openings (6,7) so that the airbag on meeting an out-of-position passenger can be moved away in part in an escape direction.
