The guide unit (4) has a frame (5) that is fixed relative to the work piece and a central slide (6) that is fixed relative to the drive motor and moves relative to the frame parallel to the drive shaft. The central slide has a drill bush that holds the drive shaft and vertical guide elements (8,8a) that can be fixed to the drive motor. An Independent claim is included for an adapter device to bore dowel holes or mill work pieces with a drive motor.
