The pivot lever (1) provides an opening movement of a valve shaft (4) against the force of a valve closure spring (8) and has a mechanical valve play setting element, for automatic regulation of the valve play. The valve play setting element has a rotatable hollow cylinder (2) and an associated coil spring, with different planar surfaces parallel to the axis of the hollow cylinder brought into position for operation of the valve shaft in dependence on the rotary position of the hollow cylinder, each planar surface corresponding to a different valve play.
