The post (1) comprises a U-shaped cross-section a U-shaped back (3), two U-shaped limbs (4,5) which are bent at their end regions and have receptacles for receiving wires (6). The receptacles are formed from the limbs via punching and/or forming and bending. The end regions of the limbs are bent outwards in an essentially U-shape configuration, so that end regions of the limbs form open channels (7,8). The channels may have means for receiving the wires which are formed from the channels by punching, forming and bending.
