The brake actuator is equipped with an accumulator unit which has an energy accumulator (10) for the storing and releasing of energy to operate the brake, preferably in emergency braking situations or for parking, and a locking unit (90) for the locking and unlocking of the energy accumulator. After the release of the locking unit by a part of the energy released by the energy accumulator an inertia mass (118) for damping purposes is set in rotational movement.
