A method for coating a substrate with a sealing material (I), especially for joining or bonding parts and/or sealing or filling cavities or spaces, in which the uncured material (I) contains a latent catalyst which is liberated and/or generated in its active form by external energy input so as to initiate and/or accelerate the reaction between base polymer and hardener. Independent claims are also included for: (a) uncured sealing material (I) containing base polymer, hardener and latent catalyst as described above; (b) completely cured sealing material produced from (I), with a tensile shear strength of at least 2 N/mm 2.
