Detector (10) for measuring radioactive particle radiation has a thin layer of scintillating detection material (12) and an optoelectronic counter (20) for counting light flashes on the detection material. The counter is coupled to the detector using a light collection arrangement (16) and reflectors (18, 22) that are arranged so that light that would otherwise leave the collector is reflected back into it.
