The method provides optimization of the data transmission rate, for transmission of data in the upstream direction between a remote transceiver unit (ATU-R) and a central office transceiver unit (ATU-C), by modification of the transmission power mode of the active transceiver unit using at least one correction value, dependent on the interference obtained from static information provided via a prior training sequence.
