The system consists of a safety belt unit (19) and retractor belts (6). A replaceable child-size airbag module (18) with gas generator is fitted into the safety belt unit, and is activated via a sensor (12) and a control unit (11). The safety belt system can be fitted to the child inside or outside the aircraft, and allows full body movement. A hook-and-loop closure permits use of the lavatory. The system may also incorporate a life vest.
