The present invention relates to a process for the reconstruction of three-dimensional images from - cone beam projection data of an object to be examined, that is arranged in an examination zone. In practice, cone-like spray pattern - projections, as a rule, is cut off, since in most cases it is not possible, the object to be examined in all of the imaging positions to be imaged completely. A only from the acquired projection data reconstructed image has therefore not the largest possible picture quality on. In order to the projection data over the sensitive detector surface and to obtain images with a higher image quality, is, therefore, according to the invention, a method having the following steps are proposed: dollars a a) detection of the cone beam projection data - by means of a is an x-ray source and having an x-ray detector x-ray device, wherein the x-ray source for the detection of the projection data along a trajectory is guided around the examination zone, dollar a b) determination of the contour of the sensitive detector surface of the x-ray detector, on the projection data was acquired, dollar a is c) determination of the pseudo - projection data in a whole, the sensitive detector surface that annularly surrounds outer region of the acquired projection data and dollars a d) reconstruction of a three-dimensional image of the examination zone from the on the sensitive detector surface and the projection data acquired in the outer area determined pseudo - projection data.
