The sliding roof-safety device with an airbag module in the forward edge region of the roof cut-out has guide cables (9,10) on both sides of the roof cut-out. A diffusor pipe (5) with gas outlet holes is provided in the forward edge region of the roof cut-out and the airbag in its initial folded state extends over the length of the pipe. The airbag by guide elements (11,12) is connected to the guide cables and with a crash-conditioned activation of the gas generator the airbag is inflated from the folded state with a displacement of the guide elements along the guide cables.
