Connecting sleeve for guiding from or immersing into glass melts comprises a supporting core (1) made from high temperature resistant material; and a sleeve (2) completely surrounding the core and made from electrically conducting material. The sleeve consists of an inner sleeve (2.1) which is in contact with the glass melt, and an outer sleeve (2.2). Both sleeves are connected together at the end of the core in a gas tight and electrically conducting manner. Each sleeve is connected to an electrode (3.1, 3.2) at the other end of the core. An electrically insulating diffusion barrier (4.3, 4.4) is arranged between the core and the sleeve. The space enclosed by the sleeve is evacuated. Preferably the core is made from a refractory metal or a ceramic, preferably molybdenum. The diffusion barrier is made from a ceramic. The sleeve is made from a thin rolled sheet made from a precious metal alloy.
