Transparent heat absorbing layer system containing a first layer (A) and a second layer (B), where the first layer contains at least one IR absorber and at least one UV absorber, and the second layer at least one UV absorber and the first layer A contains an organic IR absorber as the first layer, i.e. a UV protective layer above an IR/UV layer improves long term weathering resistance, glaze and transparency. Independent claims are included for: (1) preparation of the layer system in three steps, (a) preparation of a composition for layer A by mixing the organic IR absorber and the UV absorber with a transparent polymer base material or paint system, (b) preparation of a composition for layer B by mixing of the UV absorber with a polymer base material or paint system, and (c) preparation of the layer system by coextrusion, injection molding, or spraying layers A and B, and one or more clear coats C; (2) a profiled body containing a layer system as described above.
