An electric heating cartridge has a power limiter (20) switching according to temperature, especially a bi-metallic switch , that is located inside a metal housing tube (10) surrounding a heating body (5) concentrically. Via this at least one of two electrical connecting pieces (23,24) has a connection with a heating element (4) of the heating body. The power limiter is accommodated in a hollow space of the housing tube separated by a separating wall (12) of the heating body and has a metallic heat contact face (30) which through spring pressure lies on a metallic counter-face of the housing tube spatially distant from the separating wall without a gap being present.
