Method for loosening dyestuffs on fibers in water, comprises use of at least two vertical walls which are identically oscillated in a horizontal direction while a stream of rising air bubbles passes through the water provided with a washing agent. The loosened dyestuffs are carried away by a resultant foam stream. An Independent claim is also included for an apparatus for implementation of the method. The apparatus incorporates walls and means for oscillating these walls in a required manner.
