The method involves boring evenly spaced blast holes in an explosion area longitudinally in the base stone layer. An explosive substance is distributed in the holes and connected to fuse wire to fire in sequential rows of holes. An explosion mat or frame has a steel plate component (21) that covers several holes and has a mat of heavy material, an elastic component (22) and a weight reinforcement component. The explosive substance is set off. The method involves boring evenly spaced blast holes in an explosion area longitudinally in the base stone layer, which is to be worked at a horizontal upper surface between a free surface and cut-away surface of the layer. The holes are spaced by a predetermined distance. An explosive substance is distributed in the blast holes and connected to fuse wire, so that the explosion is set off in sequential rows of holes. An explosion mat or frame has a steel plate component (21), which is large enough to cover several blast holes and has a mat of heavy material. An elastic component (22) surrounds the explosion area and is fixed to the base section of the steel plate component. A weight reinforcement component is formed from an I- or H- type support, which is made of a heavy material and is welded to the upper surface in a grid shape. The explosive substance is set off by igniting a main explosive conductor, connected to the explosive substance. An Independent claim is included for an exploded mat or frame for the method.
