The laser system has a laser light source (16), providing laser pulses (18) of defined wavelength and a pulse length in the nano second or femto second range, for passing through the cornea (12) and an optical device for controlling the position and the focus (20) of the laser pulses, coupled to a program-controlled processor (26) for movement of the focus in a circle around the optical axis (14) of the cornea. The laser provides at least one rebated cut in the axial direction for providing a sealing surface between doner implant and the reception cornea corresponding to at least 75 % of the surface of the optical zone of the cornea.
