The system for reducing the friction between a support and sheets of paper in a processing machine comprise compressed air outlets (28) in the surface of the support which form an air cushion between it and the sheets. The outlets are fitted with a throttle system, e.g. a layer of filter material or a spiral air feed. An Independent claim is included for a rotary printing machine fitted with the system.
