The gas generator is designed so that after the openings of the first diaphragm, automatically proceed, quasi programmed one after the other, respectively with the stored gas being gradually released. So that the flow through the openings, concerning their respective cross sections and total cross section surface, are designed flow determining for the mass flow of the respective outflowing gases. The outlet openings are opened self controlled one after the other, if the first diaphragm (9) before the outlet openings (8) of the one behind the other system of diaphragms is disturbed and at last, eg. opening out in a guide tube, a whirling chamber (159) or a diffuser, which has one or more outflow openings, for the gas located in the gas container or producible in it.
