Vascular stents (I) having a polymeric sheath (II) are new. Independent claims are also included for: (1) Preparation of (I) comprising: (i) immersing the stent in a solution of the polymer to form the sheath; or (ii) applying the sheath in the form of a (preferably stretched) shaped article to the stent; and (2) Use of a tubular polymeric shaped article or a closed, film-like polymeric shaped article as a sheath for vascular stents.
