A heat-activated sensor in an internal combustion engine (ICE) is subjected to high-tension delay before a cold start. The ICE starts automatically. At the same time an amount of fuel is calculated to be fed to the ICE and an ignition point is adjusted. A switch-off sequence switches off a source of ignition after switching off a fuel supply if the ICE is shut off after running. An Independent claim is also included for a system for starting an internal combustion engine.
