According to the method a transmission line has transmission (S) and receiving (R) ends with a number of taps between. Each end has a measurement device and the fault location is determined by measurement of power parameters including voltage and current, before the fault and during the fault at the sending and receiving ends. To determine voltage and current values before and during the fault an equivalent tapping node is calculated. Independent claims are also included for: (1) an arrangement for determining fault location in a power transmission network; (2) a data storage medium for recording measurement values arising during fault location.
