Accurate time delay system and method using inexact oscillator

A time delay system and a processes make use of a precise clock signal in the case of a known frequency in order to an imprecise clock signal that is used, in order to produce a desired time delay, to calibrate. In the case that the frequency of the imprecise clock signal is lower than the frequency of the precise clock signal, the number of cycles of the precise clock signal which, during a predetermined portion of the imprecise clock signal occur, is used, in order to calibrate the inaccurate clock signal. As an alternative, if the frequency of the imprecise clock signal is higher than the frequency of the precise clock signal is, the number of cycles of the imprecise clock signal which, during a predetermined portion of the precise clock signal occur, in the case of the calibration uses. The calibrated inaccurate clock signal is then used to produce a precise time delay.
