The invention is directed to a high density electrical connector that can provide 80 or more twinax connections per inch along a straight line in a 20 millimeter card slot. In a typical housing of an electronic system, 20 millimeters is the distance from a center line to the next adjacent, parallel secondary cards. A twinax cable is a coaxial cable that contains two inner conductor wires instead of a single one. The two inner conductor wires provide two physical channels. A coaxial cable is referred to as "coaxial" because it contains a physical channel that carries the signal and is surrounded by another concentric physical channel (after an insulation layer), both of which run along the same axis. The outer channel serves as a mass.
