Storage compartment especially in inner trim of motor vehicle has damping mechanism with pressure section and abutment frictionally interacting by force which changes depending upon hinged position of front section of compartment
The storage compartment has a hinged front section (20), a fixed side section (24) and damping mechanism connecting the latter two sections. The damping mechanism has a pressure section and an abutment which frictionally interact and are constructed in such a way that the friction force between the pressure section and abutment changes in dependence upon the hinged position of the front section. The abutment is in the form of a pin which is moved along the arc of a circle when the front section is tipped relative to the pressure section.
