A sensor unit (5) scans a hazardous area (6) of a printing machine and a display (8) displays the scanned area at an operating location. A controller (10) connected to the sensor and the display, starts the printing machine only after receiving acknowledgement that the hazardous area has been examined. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) Safety system used in the printing machine; and (2) Method of securing hazardous area of printing machine.
