Resin melt is passed between a first pair of rolls (R1,R2), and the rolling action is effected according to two different formulae, to produce film. Melt is passed between a first pair of rolls (R1,R2) and the rolling action is effected according to two different formulae, formula (1) 3 * 9.8 = P and formula (2) 3 * 9.8 * 10-6 = P (R / H2) = 2 * 9.8 * 10-5, where P (kN/m) is the linear contact pressure on the resin, R(m/s) is the circumferential speed of the first set of rolls and H (m) is the resin film thickness after rolling. In a further process, roll surface temperature (T) is set so that, for a crystalline resin, T = Tm, where Tm is the resin melting point and, for a non-crystalline resin, T = Tg, where Tg is the resin glass transition temperature. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a crystalline thermoplastic resin film whose orientation coefficient of the c-axis of the crystals in the film to the processing direction = 0.8; (2) a process for production of a crystalline thermoplastic resin film in which a roll pair is used to produced the claimed crystal orientation.
