The crimping method has the insulation stripped from a cable end (12) by axial displacement of a cut insulation section before separation so that an insulation ring remains attached to the cable outer end, for holding the cable filaments together during the crimping of the cable shoe, after which the insulation ring is moved back towards the cable insulation.
