The rotarily symmetrical component producing process comprises starting with a tube (2) of constant external diameter and wall thickness. The wall thickness of the tube is equal to the smallest wall thickness of the finished shaft. One region (4) of the tube is partly heated. The heated region is axially forges and then radially swaged.
