The method involves preparing the HF transceiver (3) during the transmission of each frame for switching to the next impending channel frequency by a control procesor (1). At the conclusion of the frame a switching signal is extracted in the modem (2) from a test signal sequence. Where an antenna matching unit (4) is operative between the transceiver (3) and T/R switch, (5), this unit (4) is also prepd. for being switched at the same tme as the channel frequency is changed. ADVANTAGE - Min. channel switching times are achievable for max. signal transmission rates unimpaired by long pauses between frames.
