The method involves a subscriber changing his or her place of residence from the vicinity of a branch exchange (PBX1) in a private network (PISN) to the service area of a mobile exchange (CSC1) of a public land mobile network (PLMN) or vice versa. Supplementary service data are prepared by the network of departure and transmitted via an interface for reception and recording in the destination network. Both networks are thereby informed of the status of the supplementary service whenever a change of residence occurs.
