PURPOSE: To improve the linearity in the driving current vs optical output characteristic of a laser diode by employing a refractive index waveguide type multi-transverse mode broad area laser having single optical waveguide as the laser diode for pumping source. ;CONSTITUTION: The laser diode-pumped solid state laser comprises a laser diode 11 emitting a laser beam 10 as a pumping light, a lens 12 for condensing the diverging laser beam 10, a solid state laser medium, i.e., a YAG crystal 13, doped with neodymium, a resonator mirror 14 disposed in front of the YAG crystal 13, a KN crystal 15 interposed between the resonator mirror 14 and the YAG crystal 13, and an etalon 16 interposed between the KN crystal 15 and the resonator mirror 14. A refractive index waveguide type multi-traverse mode broad area laser having single optical waveguide is employed as the laser diode 11 in a pumping source.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
