PURPOSE: To allow transition to a low power consumption mode based on the decision of a display itself by delivering a transition signal for interrupting power supply based on a signal for controlling transition to the low power consumption mode being inputted from a computer or a television. ;CONSTITUTION: A computer or a television 1 measures the time to be elapsed after depression of a keyboard 4 by a user by means of a timer 3 and a sync signal generating section 2 superposes a low power consumption mode on a sync signal upon elapse of a predetermined time. A monitor 20 receives the sync signal and a low power consumption mode decoding section 5 detects each low power consumption mode based on the pulse width and the level. Detected information is fed to a timer group 11 and upon elapse of a time set at a timer setting section, that information is fed to a control section 13. The control section 13 observes the low power consumption mode control signal, as required, and transfers a control signal optimal for a panel unit 19 to a panel controller 15.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
