Introducing a sample into an electrophoretic capillary, comprising introducing it into a component (3) which includes a channel (4) of diameter up to about four times the external diameter of the capillary, is new. The capillary (1) is then introduced into the channel, immersing it into the sample. An Independent claim is included for apparatus for the novel method.
