The bumper bar is formed as a series of segments (14), which are placed roughly in line with each other and retained by a return mechanism (17), which holds each segment in contact with a fixed surface (12a, 12b) of the fixed shock absorbers (12). Each segment may be displaced, against the action of the return mechanism, by means of an external force (20) and returned into contact with the fixed face, when the external force is removed.
