The device for holding the tiller in a fixed position is composed of two telescopic tubes (1,2) fixed to the boat (4) by a spindle (3) fixed on the largest tube and fitting into a base (5) fixed on the boat. Immobilization of the small tube in the largest tube can be done in several ways. It can be done by a pin (8) passing through the tubes, a butterfly screw clamping system, a clamping collar or a swinging handle.
