The particulate bone mineral product comprises porous bone mineral particles derived from natural bone having a crystal structure that of natural bone and being free from all endogenous organic material. The particles have at least at a surface resorbable, physiologically compatible, collagen II fibers. The weight ratio of the collagen II fibers to the porous bone mineral particles is at least about 1:20. An Independent claim is also provided for a method of treatment of a human or animal subject.
