Method for measuring stress in a building component in which a measurement mechanism is attached to the component so that changes in stress can be detected by the displacement sensors attached to the component
Measurement mechanism comprises two arms (15) that is fixed to the element being monitored by two anchor points (X) aligned parallel to a measuring direction with at least two displacement sensors (16) mounted on the arms on either side of the anchor points to measure spacing variations between the anchor points. In between the arms a space allows a hole (20) to be drilled into which a flat jack is inserted for pressure application. Initial pressure application compensates for component deformation caused by drilling the hole. Application of a feeding or supply pressure to the jack and measurement of the displacement as a function of the feeding pressure enables the stress to be estimated in the measurement zone.
