Processing images of flame or interior of furnace for glass, billets, etc eliminates rapid changes using statistical method to analyze series of images taken during time interval
Processing images of a flame or the interior of a furnace to eliminate rapid changes uses a statistical method to analyze a series of images taken during a time interval. Independent claims are included for the following: (a) Processing a series of images of a flame or the interior of a furnace includes making a statistical analysis of the last n images, where n is an integer. When a new image is acquired the analysis is repeated for the n most recent images. (b) Apparatus for performing either of the above methods. (c) A combustion system includes a boiler, fuel injector and (b). (d) An industrial furnace including (b). (e) A computer program for performing either of the above methods. (f) A computer program as (f) in a computer usable substrate. Preferred Features: The images are taken 5 - 1000 seconds apart. The number n -10 and preferably n= 25 to 1000. The analysis binary values for each image and then averages them for the series of images. The processing identifies the contour of the flame or the fluctuation, center of gravity or area of this contour.
