The fastening consists of two flanges (A, B) fitted on either side of a mainsail eyelet. Flange A is in the form of a nut (1) with a central threaded hole (2) to receive flange B, which has a compatible thread. Flange B also has a threaded hole (3) to receive a bolt for attaching a rigger or pulley through which a reef boss can slide.
