The base for a sun umbrella comprises a bag (1) which is filled with sand, gravel or water and fits around the pole (3). It is held in place by a threaded sleeve (4) fitted on to the tube and screwed into a mounting (2) on the base of the bag sealed by a disk (11). A locking wheel (5) fixes the sleeve on to the pole.
