The tool consists of an actuator (10) with handles (122, 142), jaws (124, 144) and a ratchet mechanism (125, 174), connected by a sleeved cable (42, 44) to a support (20) with fixed (224) and sliding (245) pushers for moving the lugs on a spring clip. Pressure on the two handles pulls the two pushers towards one another, expanding the clip to release it.
