The exterior water tap (4) is of the type protected from freezing by having the valve (6) operated by the tap handle (42) on the inside of the house wall (70) . The connecting pipe (10) and the tubular shaft (5) connecting the handle to the valve are pre-cut to correspond to standard wall thicknesses and the tap is assembled in the factory before installation.
